Marriage Alive Digest 10 Part Series on
“Leading A Debt Free Life &
Marriage”
Part 1
Has Debt
Become Your Remedy To Your Problems?
A lot of
people spend more than they earn, but don’t realize it! It might be shocking to
note that nearly half of Nigerian spends up to 30% more than they earn;
especially married couples.
How can we
not realize that we’re overspending month after month?
But this has
become the “way of life” for so many of us that debt almost seems normal. It
has been part of our everyday lives for so long that it’s hard to imagine our
lives without it.
It is obvious
that if one is to ask, “Who would like to be out of debt” millions of
Nigerians, including you and I would shout “me!”
It is true
that a whole lot of us want to be free from debts yet we find that many of us
keep adding to these debts mounting daily. The reasons for these are quite
numerous.
But there are
two major reasons, which include the desire to impress other people and the
strange addiction to overspending just to “belong” or to cope with life.
In a way, to pile
up debt seem to become our remedy, a solution or therapy. According to a
marriage counselor, “many couples use overspending as a way of offsetting their
difficult and stressful life style. We are prepared to use credit and pay
interest on stuff we really don’t need just to get a false satisfaction”.
If this is
your case, there is a solution. Although it is not an easy thing to achieve,
with determination and persistence, you can say bye-bye to debts.
