Two officers saw there was a baby left unattended in a car, the gallahads
jumped into action. At least that was their job and we need heroes everyday.
The vehicle, parked outside of a hospital in West Midlands, England, was
locked so the policeman smashed the windows to rescue the child, even though
the infant didn't actually require any help.
The tyke, who's called Ryan, belongs to 10-year-old Janaih Rattray. Ryan
is her favorite doll.
Janaih's 20-year-old sister, Delesia, wasn't too pleased to come back to
find her car busted up.
The student, who is incidentally studying criminology, told the Daily
Mirror, "When I went outside to the car I found the back window behind the
driver's seat had been smashed in and there was glass all over the seats."
"I thought it was weird and then I found a note from the police to
ring them."
She agrees that the doll "does look a bit real," but she says,
"if you look at the hands, which weren't inside the blanket, and feet, you
can tell it isn't."
Chief Inspector Phil Dolby, from West Midlands Police, said: "Two of
my officers did the right thing when faced with what they genuinely believed
was a baby, alone and critically ill in a locked car on the hospital's car
park."
Delesia, who was at the hospital visiting her mother, has been a good
sport about the ordeal. She says she understands why the officers broke into
the car, but she's still not exactly thrilled.
But don’t the cops deserve an award?
The lesson here: if you've got a creepily lifelike baby doll on board
your car, stick it in the trunk. At least the boot is safe too!
