Which marriages are predestined to
last a life time and which are doomed to fail? Will the couple that stays
in perfect healthy shape last longer than the one where the woman’s hips expand
with time?
Will the couple with the best looks
last longer than the couple with average looks? Will the couple that makes
six figures a year last longer than the couple that is in a low income bracket?
Obviously, physical attributes and
income are not what make or break a relationship. What makes a relationship last
is the commitment of both parties to grow and evolve in their relationship.
We begin this series with sharing
the responsibilities, which is a vital step that will help in the development of
our marriages. Others will follow in subsequent posts.
Sharing
The Responsibilities
Although men and women have
different roles, it's important to share some of the load in each of those roles.
Husbands should be helping their wife with things inside of the house
like dishes, laundry etc.
Wives should be helping with things
on the outside of the house like gardening, washing cars etc.
It's a dual responsibility to care,
nurture and teach our children. We need to be sure to bring the strengths
of each spouse to help our children develop into confident, contributing
adults.
As we work together we strengthen
our relationships and what a joy it is to have our burdens lifted a bit by the
ones we love the most.
