If your spouse is harsher than you
when dishing out discipline, don't challenge that in front of the kids.
It's important that we have a united
front so that the kids don't play the "softer" parent against the
more "stern" parent.
It's not unusual to have different
parenting styles, but it's important to discuss important discipline approaches
privately with each other and not in front of the kids.
Once a plan is decided, don't
deviate without discussing the possible changes in advance. If the kids
play mom and dad against each other it creates a great deal of stress on the
family and the marriage.
Don't fall into that trap.
